Provide your registration number, owner, registration date and any notice you received. The filing basis matters: a Madrid-based U.S. registration can have different maintenance procedures from a registration based on a national application.

A Section 8 declaration generally addresses continued use or qualifying excusable nonuse. Section 9 is the renewal application for applicable registrations. Section 71 addresses U.S. use requirements for applicable Madrid-based registrations. These filings should not all be described as the same renewal.

A declaration of incontestability under Section 15 is optional and has its own requirements. It is not a substitute for required maintenance and does not mean a registration is immune from every challenge.

Review the goods or services still in use and the real evidence supporting the filing. Do not retain items simply because they appeared in the original application, or submit fabricated specimens or invented dates.

The required filing and any applicable grace period depend on your registration. Check current USPTO requirements and the official record. This service page does not calculate an individual deadline or promise that a missed window can be corrected.

Maintenance may involve more than one form or fee. Review service charges, government fees and the work covered by the quote. A registration that has already been canceled requires a different review from an upcoming renewal.
